Abstract

This study aims to examine the positive impact of environmental tax law on ESG performance, assess the moderating role of stakeholder behavior, and analyze the implications of this policy for publicly listed companies in Indonesia. This study uses a quantitative longitudinal panel approach based on secondary data from financial reports, sustainability reports, and regulatory documents of 85 Indonesian listed companies from 2019–2023, analyzed using panel data regression to examine the impact of Environmental Tax Law on ESG performance with stakeholder behavior as a moderating variable. The results indicate that Environmental Tax Law has a positive and significant effect on environmental and governance dimensions of ESG performance, but not on the social dimension, while stakeholder behavior does not significantly moderate this relationship among Indonesian public companies.
