Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

Guidelines for Authors

The Gorontalo Journal of Forestry Research is a periodic journal published by the Faculty of Forestry, Gorontalo University. The journal aims to serve as a publication platform that provides information for academics, government, and the public regarding developments in general forestry science, social forestry, and the environment.

The Gorontalo Journal of Forestry Research will only publish scientific articles that meet the requirements and guidelines set by the Editorial Board, as follows.

General Requirements

  1. The manuscript should be a summary of research results from either internal or external grants.
  2. The manuscript must be written in a finalized PDF format, ready for printing according to the provided template.
  3. The maximum file size for the PDF manuscript is 5MB.
  4. The manuscript must be written in Indonesian or English with the following formatting:
  5. Font type: Bookman Old Style, size: 11.
  6. Style: normal.
  7. Manuscript length: approximately 8–15 pages.
  8. Line spacing: single within paragraphs.
  9. Single-column layout.
  10. The title, author identities, and abstract must also be written in a single column.
  11. Paper size should be A4 with margins set as follows:
    1. Top, bottom, and left margins: 3.5 cm.
    2. Right margin: 2.0 cm.
  12. The manuscript in PDF format should be submitted to the journal publication division of LP3M or the journal management team of the Faculty of Forestry, Gorontalo University.

Manuscript Structure

  1. Front Section: Title, author names, abstract.
  2. Main Section: Introduction, Literature Review and Hypotheses (if applicable), Research Methodology, Results and Discussion, and Conclusion (including findings and recommendations).
  3. End Section: Acknowledgments (if any), symbol explanations (if any), and references.

Title and Author Guidelines

  1. The title should be in uppercase letters, bold (Bookman Old Style, size: 14; style: normal; alignment: left-justified).
  2. Maximum title length: 15 words.
  3. Author names should be written below the title without titles or abbreviations, in title case (capitalized initials), without the word "by." The order should be first author followed by co-authors.
  4. Author names should be formatted as: Bookman Old Style, bold, size: 10; style: normal; alignment: right-justified.
  5. Institutional affiliations and email addresses of all authors should be written below the author names in Bookman Old Style, size: 10; style: normal; alignment: right-justified.

Abstract Guidelines

  1. The abstract must be written in English, summarizing the research problem/background, methodology, and key findings. The word Abstractshould be bold.
  2. The abstract should not exceed 250 words and must be single-spaced.
  3. Font: Bookman Old Style, size: 10; style: normal; alignment: justified; written as a single paragraph without indentation.
  4. The abstract must include Keywords(3–5 words/phrases, e.g., government, local government) in bold.

Text Formatting Rules

  1. Subheadings should be in Bookman Old Style, size: 11, bold.
  2. New paragraphs should be indented (0.75 cm first-line indent) with no spacing between paragraphs.
  3. Foreign terms should be italicized.
  4. Numbers should be written as numerals, except at the beginning of sentences or for whole numbers below ten (spelled out).
  5. Tables and figures must have clear captions and sequential numbering.

Citation and Referencing (Harvard Standard)

All references must be cited in the text, and their recency is prioritized.  Authors uses grammarly for plagiarism test and mendeley for citation model.

Additional Guidelines

  1. Equations: Mathematical formulas must be clearly written using Microsoft Equation or similar tools and numbered.
  2. Tables: Tables should be numbered sequentially (Table 1, etc.), without side borders. Captions should be centered above the table.
  3. Figures: Figures should be numbered sequentially (Figure 1, etc.). Captions should be centered below the figure.
